Tekashi 6ix9ine Jokes About Dancing With Nicolás Maduro as He Reports to Brooklyn Jail

Tekashi 6ix9ine is heading to jail — and he’s already cracking jokes about the company he’ll be keeping.

The rapper will spend the next three months at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn, the same facility currently holding Venezuelan leader Nicolás Maduro. Speaking to TMZ, Tekashi said he’s oddly excited about the possibility of meeting the controversial figure, joking, “I want to dance with Maduro!”

Tekashi arrived at the jail Tuesday afternoon with streamer Adin Ross, who documented the moment live. The two pulled up in a Sprinter van, with Tekashi blasting his own music as they approached the facility. Video from the scene shows him walking through the gates while escorted by federal corrections officers.

The rapper even had plans in mind if he runs into Maduro behind bars. Tekashi said he wants to ask him to play cards — specifically Spades — as a way to pass the time. The idea of Maduro dancing isn’t far-fetched, either. A previous New York Times report noted that a viral video of Maduro dancing reportedly influenced “some on the Trump team” when discussions arose about capturing him in Venezuela.

The Metropolitan Detention Center is known for housing high-profile inmates, and Maduro isn’t the only notable name there. The jail also currently holds Luigi Mangione, who has been accused in the killing of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson.

Tekashi said if he runs into Mangione, he plans to tell him about the overwhelming support he’s seen online. While acknowledging the tragedy surrounding Thompson’s death, Tekashi added that he doesn’t believe Mangione is a bad person, despite the serious allegations.

Tekashi’s jail sentence stems from a major probation violation. He pleaded guilty in July to possessing cocaine and MDMA following a March 2025 arrest, a move that ultimately landed him back behind bars.

For now, Tekashi seems to be taking the situation in stride — turning a jail stint into yet another headline-grabbing moment. As he put it, if you’re going to jail, you might as well be surrounded by famous faces.
