Golden Globes Pay Tribute to Rob Reiner With Emotional Final Moments

Rob Reiner was honored during the closing moments of the 2026 Golden Globes in a heartfelt tribute led by host Nikki Glaser.

The ceremony came less than a month after the legendary director of The Princess Bride and This Is Spinal Tap died tragically alongside his wife, Michele Singer. Their son, Nick, has since been arrested in connection with the deaths.

As Glaser wrapped up the broadcast, she wore a Spinal Tap baseball cap and delivered a line that resonated deeply with fans: “This one went to 11.” The remark referenced one of Reiner’s most famous jokes from his 1984 cult classic, in which a rock band proudly shows off amplifiers that go beyond the usual limit—up to 11—for that “extra push over the cliff.”

This was not the first major awards show to remember Reiner this season. Earlier this month, the Critics Choice Awards also paused to honor him. During her opening monologue, host Chelsea Handler spoke warmly about Reiner’s character and kindness.

Handler described him as “the nicest guy in Hollywood,” saying that anyone who met him felt instantly comfortable. She recalled how Reiner was fully engaged in conversations, curious about everything from politics to film to beauty trends. She also shared a personal story about thanking him for dinner, noting how he responded with humor and genuine warmth.

She went on to praise both Rob and Michele for their dedication to important causes, saying their work was rooted in a simple but powerful belief: decency and looking out for one another. Handler urged the audience to let the evening serve as a reminder of the values the couple stood for.

Following Reiner’s death, tributes poured in from across Hollywood. A joint statement from close friends, including Billy Crystal, Larry David, Martin Short, and Albert Brooks, celebrated him not only as a great comic actor but also as a master storyteller and a cherished friend.

Together, the tributes painted a picture of a filmmaker whose impact went far beyond his movies—one defined by humor, humanity, and an enduring sense of decency.
