Taking the stage, Seehorn was visibly emotional and admitted she had not expected the moment. Reading from a piece of paper, she joked that her prepared speech advised her to “get a prescription for beta blockers,” before apologizing for her nerves and saying she was “a little shocked” by the win.
Before fully beginning her remarks, Seehorn warmly thanked one of her presenters, Queen Latifah, recalling a brief meeting two decades ago when she was working between acting jobs. She praised Latifah for being kind at a time when she was still finding her footing in the industry.
Seehorn went on to name and congratulate each of her fellow nominees, commending their performances and offering a broader message of support to women in the room. She spoke candidly about how overwhelming awards season can be and expressed gratitude for the encouragement she has felt from other women during recent industry events.
Closing her speech, Seehorn thanked Pluribus creator Vince Gilligan, along with her collaborators, friends, and family. She ended by saying she remains deeply grateful to work as an actor and called the award “incredible icing on that cake.”
The win adds to Seehorn’s already respected television career. She is widely admired for her role as Kim Wexler in Better Call Saul, the Breaking Bad spinoff that aired on AMC from 2015 to 2022. That performance earned her multiple Critics’ Choice and Emmy nominations, as well as ensemble acting honors. For Pluribus, she also received the Critics’ Choice award for best actress in a drama series.
Other nominees in the category included Kathy Bates (Matlock), Britt Lower (Severance), Helen Mirren (MobLand), Bella Ramsey (The Last of Us), and Keri Russell (The Diplomat).
Pluribus also received a nomination for best TV drama, further solidifying its strong showing at this year’s Golden Globe Awards.
