The SKIMS co-founder opened up about her passion for collecting rare celebrity items while talking with her sister Khloé Kardashian on the second part of her appearance on the Khloé in Wonderland podcast.
During the conversation, the sisters recalled a recent moment when they unknowingly bid against each other at an auction for a Bible that once belonged to their late father, Robert Kardashian. Kim said auctions excite her because of their atmosphere and historical value.
“I love the energy,” Kim explained. “I think it’s like owning a piece of history.”
Kim revealed that she owns an extensive collection of outfits designed by Bob Mackie and worn by Cher on The Sonny and Cher Show. She said she won every item during a major auction.
She also shared that she owns the famous crystal bikini top designed by Bob Mackie and worn by Britney Spears during her 2001 Dream Within a Dream Tour. The outfit includes a bra, undergarments, and armbands made with French wirework and blush fabric to create a nude illusion. Spears wore the look while performing “Baby One More Time…” in an HBO concert special and in promotional photos.
Kim admitted she hasn’t told Spears that she owns the outfit, even though the sisters recently spent time with her. KhloĂ© encouraged her to share the story, calling it “crazy” not to mention it.
The crystal top sold for $78,000 at Julien’s Auctions in March 2025. The jeans associated with the look, which were reproductions, sold separately for $2,925.
Kim also reflected on whether stars ever want their old items back after they’re sold. KhloĂ© pointed out that Kim once wore a vintage piece from Janet Jackson to one of her concerts. Kim added that when she bought a jacket once owned by Michael Jackson and gave it to her daughter North, the singer’s family was happy the item stayed with someone who valued it.
In addition to pop memorabilia, Kim said she also owns items from Elizabeth Taylor’s archive. Still, she admitted she sometimes wonders how such personal belongings end up at auction in the first place.
“I don’t know how this stuff gets in the hands of the auctions,” she said, adding that collecting remains both fascinating and emotional for her.
