In a new interview for Harper's Bazaar’s February 2026 cover, published Wednesday, Jan. 21, the 24-year-old model revealed that nude photographs of her mother, Cindy Crawford, were displayed in their home when she was growing up.
Gerber said she never found the images inappropriate. Instead, she viewed them as empowering.
“They were, to me, artistic,” she said. “It wasn’t vulgar; it wasn’t objectification.”
She added that seeing the photos was “a gift,” explaining that she grew up in a household that was “without shame for the female body.”
Reflecting on her early years, Gerber described her childhood as “pretty isolated” but in a positive way, saying it was “as normal as it could have been” despite her mother’s fame. She noted that she attended public school and was deeply involved in the arts.
“I did theater. I did every community play. I was in choir. I did singing recitals. I danced,” she said.
Gerber also shared her love for Broadway, recalling frequent trips to New York City. She told Harper’s Bazaar that she saw Wicked eight times and had memorized all the lyrics to Rent by the age of nine.
The model went on to discuss how childhood memories can differ even within the same family. Gerber said she and her older brother, Presley Walker Gerber, remember their upbringing very differently.
“It’s so interesting to articulate your own childhood,” she said. “Our memories are completely contradictory, which is really fascinating and has taught me how multiple realities can exist at once.”
Gerber and her brother are the only children of Crawford and her husband, Rande Gerber.
Her comments come shortly after she was spotted on the set of Ryan Murphy’s upcoming series The Shards in November, where many fans noted her striking resemblance to her mother.
On set, Gerber was seen alongside costar Homer Gere, the son of Crawford’s ex-husband Richard Gere, to whom she was married from 1991 to 1995.
