Trump Attacks George Clooney Over French Citizenship After “Goofball” Remark

U.S. President Donald Trump has launched a fresh attack on actor George Clooney, criticizing him and his wife Amal Clooney after news broke that the family has been granted French citizenship.

Trump posted a long message on Truth Social on Wednesday, mocking the Clooneys’ move to France and attacking their political views. He claimed the couple were “two of the worst political prognosticators of all time” and accused France of having major crime problems due to immigration. Trump also used the post to criticize Democrats and boast about his own political slogan, “Make America Great Again.”

The comments appeared to be a response to a recent interview in which Clooney described Trump as “a big goofball” before he entered politics.

According to reports from The New York Times and other outlets, France recently granted citizenship to Clooney, his wife, and their children. Clooney, who was born in Kentucky, still holds U.S. citizenship.

Clooney responded calmly to Trump’s remarks. In a brief statement, he said, “I totally agree with the current president. We have to make America great again. We’ll start in November.”

In an interview with Variety, Clooney spoke about his past relationship with Trump before Trump became a political figure. Clooney said the two used to be friendly and would see each other at clubs and restaurants. “He’s a big goofball,” Clooney said, adding that Trump’s personality changed once he entered politics.

Clooney also criticized major U.S. media networks for settling lawsuits filed by Trump. He argued that ABC News and CBS News should have fought back instead of settling. According to Clooney, those decisions weakened the media’s role in holding powerful figures accountable.

The actor also took aim at Bari Weiss, founder of The Free Press, who was recently appointed to oversee CBS News. Clooney said her leadership raised concerns about the future direction of the newsroom.

The exchange adds another chapter to the ongoing public feud between Trump and prominent Hollywood figures, blending politics, media criticism, and celebrity influence into one heated debate.
