Guy Moon, a composer whose work shaped many popular animated television series, has died at the age of 63 after a traffic collision, his family confirmed.

In a statement shared on Moon’s Facebook account, the family said he was killed Thursday morning in a traffic accident. The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner confirmed his death, listing traumatic injuries as the cause. The manner of death was ruled an accident.

Moon was born and raised in Fort Atkinson and later built a successful career composing and writing music for animated television. His credits included Johnny Bravo, Cow and Chicken, The Grim Adventures of Billy & Mandy, The Fairly OddParents, and Danny Phantom.

According to IMDb, Moon received four Primetime Emmy nominations during his career. He also won an Annie Award for his work on The Fairly OddParents.

“We are overcome with grief to announce the passing of our beloved patriarch, Guy Moon,” the family said in their statement. “We are emboldened to grieve him with honor and courage with the tools that he equipped us with in his beautiful life. He has left an unmistakable legacy, and will be profoundly missed by us, his family, and countless others whose lives he impacted.”

The family said they are tentatively planning a celebration of Moon’s life on his birthday, Feb. 7, in the Los Angeles area. A second service will be held later in his hometown of Fort Atkinson.
