Charlie Heaton Says Son Archie Is “Just Getting Into” Stranger Things

Charlie Heaton’s son has discovered one of his dad’s most famous projects.

While speaking with PEOPLE at the Industry season 4 premiere at Regal Union Square on Thursday, Jan. 8, the Charlie Heaton, 31, revealed that his son Archie has recently started watching Stranger Things.

“He has just started getting into it,” Heaton told PEOPLE. “He got to come to set last year and that was really cool.”

Heaton shares Archie, born in 2014, with his former Comanechi bandmate Akiko Matsuura, according to GQ. The pair later went their separate ways.

For fans, Stranger Things has meant watching its young cast grow up on screen since the series premiered in 2016. For Heaton, who plays Jonathan Byers, that growth has also been personal. In an interview with Wonderland Magazine ahead of the show’s upcoming fifth season, the actor reflected on how becoming a father at a young age shaped his life.

“Being a young father, you have to grow up very fast,” Heaton said in the November 2025 interview. “You have to also learn ethical priorities, too, and you’ve got to look after somebody.”

“That’s a big thing,” he added. “You want to give them good experiences and a lot of love, and the hard part obviously is distance. But that’s part of the sacrifice.”

Despite his fame, Heaton has kept Archie almost entirely out of the public eye. He has never shared photos of his son on social media or spoken in detail about his private life.

The actor is also known for being discreet about his relationships. Heaton and his Stranger Things co-star Natalia Dyer kept their real-life romance private for months before confirming it publicly.

“We didn’t really know what the relationship was,” Heaton told GQ in February 2020. “The caginess, anyway, might have been unnecessary.”
