Blake Lively Details Allegedly “Humiliating” Birth Scene Experience in Ongoing Legal Battle

Blake Lively has accused director and co-star Justin Baldoni of pressuring her to appear nearly nude during a childbirth scene in the film It Ends With Us, according to newly unsealed excerpts from her deposition.

The testimony, released Tuesday as part of Lively’s ongoing legal dispute with Baldoni, includes graphic descriptions of the filming of a hospital birth scene that she says left her feeling “violative and humiliating.”

In her deposition, Lively claims that on the day the scene was shot, Baldoni and producer Jamey Heath insisted she simulate giving birth while appearing naked. She says Baldoni told her that his wife had torn off her clothes while giving birth, using that as justification for the approach.

Lively pushed back, stating she had given birth four times herself and was never nude. She requested that her character wear a hospital gown, noting the scene was set in a medical setting. According to her testimony, Baldoni continued to press for nudity and insisted that her prosthetic pregnancy belly be visible.

She ultimately says she felt forced to compromise, agreeing to simulate nudity from the chest down—something she says had not been previously discussed or approved.

The actress testified that filming the scene took several hours and involved her being placed on her back in a hospital bed with her legs spread in stirrups while non-essential crew members were present. She said the only coverage she had was a strategically placed hospital gown and a small piece of black fabric covering her genital area.

Lively also alleged that multiple camera angles were filmed, including frontal shots, and that she had to repeatedly request a blanket for privacy between takes—requests she says were not always honored.

Compounding her discomfort, Lively said she learned on the day of filming that the actor playing the OB/GYN was a close friend of Baldoni. She claims the actor was repeatedly positioned between her legs during the scene, close to her minimally covered body.

She further stated that Baldoni’s close friend and the film’s financier, Steve Sarowitz, visited the set that same day—something she described as “inappropriate” given the nature of the scene.

Lively testified that her distress continued even after filming wrapped. She alleged that the following day, Heath showed her a video of a fully nude woman giving birth. Initially believing it to be pornographic, Lively said she looked away and asked him to stop, at which point Heath told her the video was of his wife.

“I was extremely uncomfortable with the degree to which I was exposed,” Lively stated in her deposition, adding that the situation felt deeply humiliating and inappropriate.

The unsealed testimony adds another layer to the increasingly contentious legal dispute surrounding the film’s production. Representatives for Baldoni and the production have not publicly responded to the specific allegations detailed in the deposition excerpts.
