Lance Bass Shares His Favorite Underrated NSYNC Songs

Lance Bass is taking a trip down memory lane — and shining a spotlight on a couple of NSYNC songs he believes never got the credit they deserved.

Speaking with PEOPLE while discussing his partnership with Bath & Body Works, the 46-year-old singer opened up about tracks from NSYNC that still mean a lot to him years later.

One song Bass says was especially overlooked is “It Makes Me Ill,” from the group’s blockbuster 2000 album No Strings Attached. The track was never released as a single, but Bass says it was always a standout for him.

“That was my favorite from No Strings Attached,” he explained. “I definitely fought for that to be a single, but we had other songs. We had some bangers from that album, so it was hard to pick.”

Even today, the song holds a special place in his heart. Bass called it his favorite non-Christmas NSYNC song, describing it as “great” and “fun.” He also joked that it seems to have a particularly strong fanbase among men.

“Every guy that likes NSYNC, about 80% of the time they say, ‘It Makes Me Ill,’” Bass said. “It’s like the dudes’ favorite song of ours.”

Bass’s other pick for an underrated track comes from the group’s holiday catalog. He pointed to the a cappella version of “O Holy Night” from NSYNC’s 1998 Christmas album Home for Christmas.

According to Bass, that recording stands out as one of his favorite moments in the band’s entire career.

“It was my favorite recording that we’ve ever done,” he said. “I love it because it brings us back to how we started in 1995. No music, just our voices — that’s how we began.”

For Bass, the song isn’t just a holiday classic — it’s a reminder of NSYNC’s roots and the raw vocal talent that launched one of pop music’s most iconic groups.
