Gordon Ramsay Steps Into Scripted TV With Female-Driven Paris Drama

Gordon Ramsay is moving beyond reality television and into scripted drama with a new series in development at Fox Entertainment Studios. The world-famous chef is executive producing a drama starring Rachel Bilson that focuses on female empowerment and personal reinvention.

The show is based on Kathleen Flinn’s memoir The Sharper Your Knife, the Less You Cry, a self-autobiographical story inspired by Flinn’s own life. It follows a recently laid-off middle manager who decides to drain her savings and start over by enrolling in a prestigious cooking school in Paris. Leaving corporate life behind, she trades boardrooms for burners and office politics for the intense pressure of professional kitchens. The story is described as funny, heartfelt, and centered on self-discovery.

Stephanie Danler is writing the adaptation. Danler is best known as the author of Sweetbitter, which was previously adapted into a television series that she also showran. She is currently working on another high-profile pilot for Apple TV and A24.

Ramsay is executive producing the project through Studio Ramsay alongside the company’s chief creative officer Lisa Edwards, as well as Flinn and Olivia Allen. The series is set in Paris and is currently in development.

Rachel Bilson’s involvement is expected to be a major selling point when the show is presented to buyers. The actor previously worked with Fox on the crime anthology Accused and has appeared in series such as Take Two and Nashville. She also co-hosts the podcast Broad Ideas with Olivia Allen.

Studio Ramsay, a joint venture with Fox, has produced thousands of hours of television, largely focused on food and competition formats. While Ramsay is best known for appearing on camera, the company has recently expanded into projects where he works behind the scenes, including documentary-style food programming.

With this new drama, Ramsay is taking a notable step into scripted storytelling, using food not as a competition, but as the backdrop for a personal and empowering journey.
