On Tuesday, Channing Tatum shared a heartfelt message on his Instagram Story, remembering Ransone as “one of the realest.” The two actors worked together on writer-director Dito Montiel’s 2011 crime thriller The Son of No One.
“There ain’t words for these things,” Tatum wrote alongside a photo of the pair. “But you my friend… was one of the realest. I remember being in every conversation with you and just always being like I wonder what he’s gonna say!!??? Lololol. I love you PJ. I’ll see you on the next one my G.”
Other figures from across Hollywood have also shared messages honoring Ransone’s life and work, including Chloë Sevigny, Spike Lee, and Sean Baker, reflecting the deep respect he earned throughout his career.
Ransone was found dead by hanging on Friday in Los Angeles and appears to have died by suicide, according to the county medical examiner’s report.
He is survived by his wife, Jamie McPhee, and their son.
