During a February 3 appearance on Katie Miller's Podcast, the rapper said she enjoys watching Netflix’s The Crown, but had some strong feelings about Harry’s decision to step away from royal life.
When host Katie Miller asked for her take, Minaj jokingly compared Prince Harry to the movie character E.T.
“I think he should go home, like E.T. — phone home and then go home,” Minaj said with a laugh.
She explained that while she has love for both Harry and Meghan, she didn’t agree with Harry speaking publicly about family issues.
“I don’t think he should have aired the family’s dirty laundry, but that’s just me, darling,” she added.
Minaj made it clear there’s no hate behind her comments. She said she actually feels a strong connection to the British royal family, even though she doesn’t know them personally.
“I love the royal family as if I know them,” she said. “I think Americans really love the idea of the royal family.”
She also acknowledged that outsiders don’t always know what’s really happening behind closed doors.
“People do things, and you don’t know why or what’s going on inside of them, so I don’t judge,” Minaj explained.
Still, she admitted she felt disappointed when Harry and Meghan left royal life.
“I was like, ‘Ah man,’ because I felt like I knew them in some way,” she said, even jokingly slipping into a British accent to say, “Harry, no, don’t do that. You know better.”
In the end, Minaj summed it up simply: Harry made his choice, and she respects that — even if she would have preferred a different ending to the royal story.
