Eddie Murphy’s son, Eric Murphy, and Martin Lawrence’s daughter, Jasmin Lawrence, are expecting their first baby together — and fans are already calling the unborn child comedy royalty.
The couple shared the happy news on Monday with a joint Instagram post, featuring sweet photos of Jasmin cradling her baby bump and a loving shot of the two together. Alongside the pictures, they wrote, “Thank you Jesus for the greatest gift.”
Unsurprisingly, the comment section exploded with excitement. One fan joked, “Having Eddie Murphy and Martin Lawrence as your grandparents is life!!!” Another added, “That baby gonna be talented and funny as hell.”
Eric and Jasmin have been together since 2021 and announced their engagement in November 2024. But in classic low-key fashion, the couple didn’t wait long to make things official.
During an appearance on The Jennifer Hudson Show last May, Eddie casually revealed that the two had already gotten married.
“Actually, they got married, like, two weeks ago,” Eddie said with a laugh. “They went off… everybody was making big wedding plans, and they decided they wanted to do something quiet with just the two of them.”
Eddie also joked that becoming in-laws with Martin had its perks — especially financially. “Yeah, we’re in-laws,” he said. “And he doesn’t have to pay for that big wedding now.”
The ceremony itself was ultra-private. According to Eddie, it was just Eric, Jasmin, and a preacher at a church. “They had a quiet little thing,” he explained, adding that the families might still throw a big celebration later.
Before the engagement, Eddie spoke about the relationship during a 2024 interview on CBS Mornings with Gayle King. He said both he and Martin thought it was “cool” that their kids were together.
“They’re both beautiful. They look amazing together,” Eddie said. “And everybody asks, ‘Is that baby going to be funny?’ Just our gene pool is going to make this funny baby.”
Eric is Eddie Murphy’s eldest child among his 10 kids, while Jasmin is the eldest of Martin Lawrence’s children. The two legendary comedians have their own long history, having worked together in the films Boomerang and Life.
Now, decades later, their families are officially linked — and a new generation is on the way. One thing’s for sure: expectations are already sky-high for Hollywood’s next funny star. 🎤👶😂
