Nicki Minaj, Kevin O’Leary to Join Trump at Treasury Summit on New Child Savings Accounts

The U.S. Treasury Department is turning a normally dry policy rollout into a headline-grabbing event.

On Wednesday, the department will host a high-profile summit to launch “Trump Accounts,” a new type of tax-advantaged savings account for children. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the event will feature an unusual mix of politicians, business leaders and celebrities — all appearing alongside President Donald Trump and Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent.

Among those slated to attend are rapper Nicki Minaj, investor and Shark Tank star Kevin O’Leary, filmmaker Marty Supreme, and actress Cheryl Hines, who is married to Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr..

What are Trump Accounts?

Trump Accounts are a new kind of individual retirement-style account designed for children. Parents, guardians, employers and other donors can contribute to them, allowing money to grow with tax advantages over time. The accounts were created under last year’s “One Big Beautiful Bill Act” and are a central part of the administration’s pitch to expand long-term financial security for American families.

Treasury officials say the summit will explain how the accounts work, outline their projected economic impact, and highlight the administration’s broader economic agenda.

A Treasury event with celebrity flair

Details of the summit are still largely under wraps, but both Trump and Bessent are expected to deliver remarks. The event will be streamed live on X and will include policy briefings and expert discussions, according to the department.

Other participants include conservative influencer Isabel Brown, political consultant Alex Bruesewitz, Texas Sen. Ted Cruz, Dell Technologies founder Michael Dell, and White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt.

The lineup gives the event far more star power than a typical Treasury Department announcement — a sign of how aggressively the administration wants to promote the new accounts.

Bessent has previously hinted at just how big that push will be, saying in a radio interview that a commercial promoting Trump Accounts is planned to air during next month’s Super Bowl, shortly after the national anthem.

Celebrities and politics

The celebrities involved all have some conservative ties. Hines is married to a senior Trump administration official, while O’Leary is a frequent TV commentator on economic issues. Minaj, meanwhile, has become more vocal about her political views in recent months.

She appeared at Turning Point USA’s AmericaFest last month, where she spoke warmly about Trump.

“I have the utmost respect and admiration for our president,” Minaj said at the event. “I don’t know if he even knows this, but he’s given so many people hope.”

With a Super Bowl ad, a livestreamed summit, and a guest list that blends pop culture with politics, the Treasury Department is making it clear: Trump Accounts are not just a policy proposal — they’re a major public-facing campaign.
