Sundance Film Festival Condemns Assault on Rep. Maxwell Alejandro Frost at Park City Event

The Sundance Film Festival issued a statement Friday condemning a violent assault against Florida Congressman Maxwell Alejandro Frost that occurred at a private party in Park City during the festival.

In its statement, the festival said it “strongly condemn[s] last night’s assault and abhor[s] any form of violence, harassment, and hate speech.” Sundance noted that the incident took place at a non–Festival-affiliated event but emphasized that such behavior is “intolerable and against our values of upholding a welcoming and inspiring environment for all our attendees.”

The festival added that the safety and security of attendees is its top priority and said its thoughts are with Frost as he recovers. It encouraged anyone with additional information to contact the Park City Police Department.

According to Variety, a man was arrested at a Creative Artists Agency party after punching another attendee in the face. Frost later confirmed on X that he was the victim.

“Last night, I was assaulted by a man at Sundance Festival who told me that Donald Trump was going to deport me before he punched me in the face,” Frost wrote. “He was heard screaming racist remarks as he drunkenly ran off. The individual was arrested and I am okay.”

Frost later posted an update thanking supporters and urging people not to be intimidated. “I am okay. Thank you for all the well wishes,” he wrote. “We are in scary times. Please stay safe and do not let these people silence you. Onwards.”
