Sophie Turner Says Game of Thrones Still Triggers “Crazy Anxiety”

Sophie Turner has revealed that she still struggles to engage with anything related to Game of Thrones, despite spending nearly a decade on the show.

Turner, who played Sansa Stark across all eight seasons, admitted that even hearing the iconic opening theme causes intense anxiety.

“If I’m totally honest, anything Game of Thrones, I don’t think I can… I can’t even hear the theme tune. It gives me crazy anxiety,” she said in a recent interview shared by @jamesbstreet.
“I had the best time on that show, but I can’t watch anything related to it.”

Supporting the New Westeros Series — From Afar

Although she won’t be tuning in, Turner said she fully supports the cast of HBO’s upcoming Westeros-set series, A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms.

“I’m really excited for all the actors on it. I think it will probably be incredible because it is that universe,” she said.
“I won’t be watching it, but I’ll be rooting for you.”

Would She Ever Return as Sansa Stark?

Despite her anxiety, Turner hasn’t completely ruled out returning to the franchise if a sequel project called for it.

“Show me the money,” she joked. “I think it would be hard but also amazing to come back.”
Still, she added that Sansa’s ending felt complete. “I was very happy with the way Sansa ended her story. I feel like I got a good one.”

Focus Shifts to Tomb Raider

For now, Turner is focused on her next major role: starring as Lara Croft in Amazon Prime Video’s upcoming Tomb Raider series. Early images show her costume drawing strong inspiration from the character’s original video game design.

The show’s plot remains largely secret, but casting details are taking shape. The ensemble includes:

• Sigourney Weaver as original character Evelyn Wallis

• Bill Paterson as Winston the butler

• Martin Bobb-Semple as tech expert Zip

• Jason Isaacs as Lara’s uncle, Atlas de Mornay

While Game of Thrones remains emotionally difficult for Turner to revisit, her career is clearly moving forward — with a new iconic adventure already underway.
