Brand appeared at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday via video link from the United States. The six-minute hearing saw him speak only to confirm his name and date of birth. According to reports, he appeared on screen wearing a denim shirt with several buttons undone.
The new charges, brought by London’s Metropolitan Police in December, relate to alleged incidents involving two women in 2009. Brand has been released on bail and is scheduled to appear next at Southwark Crown Court on Feb. 17.
These allegations add to a growing list of charges facing the former TV host. In early 2025, Brand was charged with five offenses — including two counts of rape, two counts of sexual assault, and one count of indecent assault — connected to alleged incidents involving four women between 1999 and 2005. At a hearing in May 2025, he pleaded not guilty to all five charges, with a trial date set for June 3, 2026.
The Metropolitan Police investigation began after a major 2023 exposé by Channel 4’s Dispatches and The Sunday Times. The investigation alleged that Brand had committed rape, sexual assault, and emotional abuse. The documentary featured accounts from five women, four of whom chose to remain anonymous.
When announcing the additional charges in December, Chief Inspector Tariq Farooqi said the investigation remains ongoing and urged anyone with relevant information to contact police.
Brand has consistently denied all allegations, maintaining that every relationship he was involved in was consensual.
