In a new cast interview with Fandango, Margot Robbie, 35, spoke about quickly forming a strong connection with her co-star Jacob Elordi, 28, who plays Heathcliff opposite her Catherine.
“I’m very codependent with people I work with,” Robbie said, explaining that she often finds it hard when a project ends. “I think I developed that quite quickly with Jacob too.”
Robbie recalled that during the first days of filming, Elordi was often nearby, quietly watching her work — much like Heathcliff watching Catherine in the story. When she mentioned this during the interview, Fennell jokingly said she hadn’t instructed him to do so and had even asked him to leave at one point.
By the third day, Robbie said she had grown used to Elordi’s presence. When she noticed he wasn’t nearby, she felt unsettled. “I felt quite lost, like a kid without their blanket,” she said.
Elordi agreed that the feeling was mutual. He praised Robbie’s talent, saying that anyone sharing a set with her would want to stay close and observe how she works. “She’s just like an elite actor,” he said.
The film also stars Shazad Latif, Hong Chau, Alison Oliver, Charlotte Mellington and Owen Cooper. It is co-produced by Robbie’s company, LuckyChap Entertainment, which also produced Barbie and Saltburn. Robbie produced the film alongside her husband, Tom Ackerley.
The cast also spoke about filming in the English countryside, where they listened to Wuthering Heights by Kate Bush while working on the moors to set the mood.
Elordi described the experience as emotional and immersive, saying it felt as though the spirit of the story — written more than 200 years ago — was still present in the landscape.
Wuthering Heights opens in theaters on Feb. 13.
