The Saturday Night Live star has made it clear that, despite online speculation and playful podcast chatter, he is not trying to date — let alone marry — pop star Sabrina Carpenter.
During a recent appearance on Armchair Expert, host Dax Shepard joked that if he were Hernández’s age, he’d be doing everything possible to date Carpenter. Shepard even teased, “Are you not trying your hardest to marry her?”
Hernández quickly shut that idea down.
“I’m in a relationship,” the comedian said plainly. “I’m in a relationship with a Dominican girl. She’s an architect. She’s unreal. She went to Yale.”
According to E!, Hernández has been dating Ana Amelia Batlle Cabral for quite some time. The two have been spotted together at industry events, including an afterparty for The Phoenician Scheme, and made a red carpet appearance at the Happy Gilmore 2 premiere last summer.
While he’s happily taken, Hernández had nothing but kind words for Carpenter, who has appeared alongside him on SNL. The singer featured in two of his recurring “Domingo” sketches, which took off after her hit “Espresso” was used during the character’s debut.
Carpenter also played along with the joke during her Short n’ Sweet tour in 2024, when she mock-“arrested” Hernández onstage at the Kia Forum in Los Angeles before performing “Juno.”
On the podcast, Hernández praised her collaborative spirit. “Sabrina’s really down,” he said. “She’s down to clown. She’s down to think of something funny. She’s an actress.”
He added, “She’s awesome and she’s really funny and cool.”
Still, romance rumors flared again earlier this month when Hernández posted an Instagram video that appeared to show him preparing for a wedding. The clip sparked speculation online, though no details have been confirmed.
For now, one thing is clear: Marcello Hernández isn’t marrying Sabrina Carpenter — and he seems perfectly happy where he is.
