The EGOT-winning performer has released a new EDM-style track titled “Kids Wait Till You Hear This,” marking her first single since 2013. The song shares its name with Minnelli’s upcoming memoir and appears on The Eleven Album, a compilation released by the AI voice platform ElevenLabs.
Some fans raised concerns after learning that the project involved artificial intelligence. In response, Minnelli took to Facebook on Wednesday to clarify exactly how AI was — and was not — used in the song.
“What I will not allow this great company to do? Create, clone or copy my voice!” Minnelli wrote. She explained that the track uses AI-assisted arrangements, but her vocals are entirely her own. “The shout-outs are all mine,” she added, pushing back against what she described as trolls who criticized the project without checking the details.
Calling the release her first EDM single since her collaborations with Pet Shop Boys, Minnelli encouraged fans to enjoy the song, shake off negativity, and celebrate as she prepares to release her memoir.
The Eleven Album was announced Wednesday as a “landmark musical release” meant to explore collaboration between artists and new technology. Alongside Minnelli, the album features Art Garfunkel, songwriter Patrick Patrikios, composer Demitri Leiros, and AI-based creators Kai and King Willonius.
In the project’s press release, Minnelli said she was drawn to the collaboration because it supports artists rather than replacing them. “Using my voice and new tools in service of expression, not instead of it,” she said, emphasizing artist ownership — something she noted was not always possible during her parents’ era in Hollywood.
Minnelli’s last full album, Confessions, was released in 2010. Since then, she has recorded occasional special projects, including a song for the NBC series Smash, and appeared onstage for the first time in years on RuPaul’s Drag Race in 2025.
With a new song out and her first memoir on the way, Minnelli is clearly not slowing down — and she’s making it clear that her legendary voice is still very much her own.
