Taylor Sheridan continues his streak of Paramount+ hits with Landman, a gritty neo-Western drama set in the oilfields of West Texas. The series stars Oscar winner Billy Bob Thornton as Tommy Norris, a hard-nosed oil executive whose world is defined by power, family conflict, and high-stakes business deals.
Season 2 wrapped on Sunday, Jan. 18, with major shakeups that set the stage for an even more volatile future. Here’s everything we know so far about Landman season 3.
Landman Renewed for Season 3
Paramount+ officially renewed Landman for a third season on Dec. 5, less than three weeks after season 2 premiered. The renewal came amid strong viewership momentum: the season 2 premiere drew more than 9.2 million viewers in its first two days, marking a 262% increase over the series debut.
The show has remained one of the streamer’s top-performing originals and recently ranked No. 1 on the Nielsen streaming charts.
Ali Larter, who plays Tommy’s ex-wife Angela, celebrated the news on Instagram, thanking fans and praising the cast and crew for helping turn Landman into a breakout success.
Taylor Sheridan’s Future and the Show’s Stability
Some uncertainty briefly surrounded the series after creator Taylor Sheridan announced plans to leave Paramount for NBCUniversal. That raised questions about the future of several of his shows, including Landman.
However, co-creator and showrunner Christian Wallace quickly put concerns to rest, saying the creative direction remains unchanged and that the series still has “a lot of runway.”
According to Wallace, the world of Landman is expansive, with many untold stories still left to explore.
Season 2 Finale: Where Things Stand
The season 2 finale closed several storylines while opening new conflicts:
• Tommy Norris is fired from M-Tex by Cami (played by Demi Moore) but wastes no time launching his own company, CTT Oil Exploration and Cattle.
• Tommy shocks the industry by convincing cartel boss Danny “Gallino” Morrell to leave M-Tex and invest as an equal partner in his new venture.
• Cooper Norris is appointed president of CTT, with Tommy stepping into a senior vice president role.
• Ainsley Norris struggles at first with college and cheerleading but begins to find her footing by episode’s end.
• Cooper faces serious legal trouble after attacking a man who attempted to sexually assault Ariana, though charges are ultimately avoided thanks to quick legal intervention and political pressure.
The finale clearly positions Tommy and Cami on a collision course, setting up major corporate and personal fallout in season 3.
What to Expect in Landman Season 3
As of now, Paramount+ has not released an official synopsis for season 3. Even the cast appears largely in the dark. Thornton recently said Sheridan keeps future storylines tightly under wraps until scripts are delivered.
Still, season 3 is expected to follow:
• The rise — and risks — of Tommy’s new oil empire
• Escalating tension with Cami and M-Tex
• Cooper’s leadership challenges and legal shadow
• Ongoing family drama involving Angela and the Norris kids
Given the show’s track record, corporate warfare and personal consequences are likely to intensify.
Expected Season 3 Cast
While the full cast has not been officially confirmed, several main players are expected to return, including:
• Billy Bob Thornton as Tommy Norris
• Ali Larter as Angela Norris
• Michelle Randolph as Ainsley Norris
• Jacob Lofland as Cooper Norris
• Demi Moore as Cami
• Paulina Chavez, Colm Feore, Kayla Wallace, James Jordan, Sam Elliott, and others
Fan-favorite supporting characters, including Sheriff Walt Joeberg and Danny “Gallino” Morrell, may also reappear.
Where to Watch
Landman seasons 1 and 2 are currently streaming on Paramount+. A release date for season 3 has not yet been announced.
With its mix of power struggles, family drama, and modern Western grit, Landman appears poised to remain one of Paramount+’s flagship series heading into its next chapter.
