Kelly Clarkson May Exit Daytime TV as Talk Show’s Future Remains Uncertain

It may soon be the end of the road for Kelly Clarkson’s daytime television run.

Multiple sources tell Page Six that the Grammy-winning singer and TV host is expected to step away from The Kelly Clarkson Show after the current season, when her contract expires. While no official announcement has been made, insiders suggest her exit is increasingly likely.

One source described Clarkson’s departure as “definite,” while another said it is “likely that it will not go on.” According to those close to the production, the demands of hosting a daily talk show—combined with broader challenges facing daytime television—have raised questions about the show’s long-term sustainability.

“It’s a lot to put on, and looking at the landscape across daytime television, it’s not sustainable anymore,” one insider said.

Replacement rumors swirl, but nothing confirmed

Speculation about the show’s future intensified last year following reports that former Today co-anchor Hoda Kotb was being considered as a possible replacement. The rumors emerged after Kotb’s unexpected departure from NBC’s flagship morning show, sparking chatter inside the network about potential next steps.

However, another insider cautioned that decisions have not been finalized. While discussions are reportedly ongoing within NBC headquarters at 30 Rock, the source stressed that it is still early.

“People are jumping the gun. Nothing is definite yet, and it’s still a long season,” the insider said.

Family priorities take center stage

Sources previously told Page Six that Clarkson had been considering leaving the show well before the current speculation. Last year, she was absent from the program for a period, later revealed to be due to caring for her former husband, Brandon Blackstock, who died in August 2025 at age 48 following a private battle with melanoma.

Clarkson and Blackstock, who divorced in 2023 after nearly a decade of marriage, share two children: River Rose, 11, and Remington “Remy” Alexander, 9. Since Blackstock’s death, sources say Clarkson has prioritized parenting and helping her children cope with the loss of their father.

Clarkson opens up about life at home

At a fan Q&A session earlier this year, Clarkson spoke candidly about how family life has become her main focus. She revealed that bedtime—when she cuddles with her children—has become her favorite part of the day.

“There’s been a lot for our family recently, and so I have allowed my kids to sleep with me quite a bit,” she shared. “So it’s my two dogs, my kids and me. It’s a lot.”

She added that the quiet moments and conversations with her children during that time have been especially meaningful.

“It’s been really special, though. The conversations you have during that time are pretty cute. So that’s probably my favorite time of day.”

For now, the future of The Kelly Clarkson Show remains undecided. But as Clarkson weighs her professional commitments against her personal priorities, sources suggest her next chapter may be focused less on daytime TV—and more on life at home.
