Keegan-Michael Key Open to Reuniting With Jordan Peele for New Comedy Sketches

Keegan-Michael Key says the comedy he created with Jordan Peele still resonates years after their hit show ended — and he’s open to working together again.

Speaking with a photographer at LAX on Wednesday, the Key & Peele star reflected on the duo’s time making the sketch series and said he’d welcome a return to the “comedy lab” with Peele if the opportunity ever arose. If they did reunite, Key said they’d stick to what worked best: sketches about the human condition that people everywhere can relate to.

That approach may explain why Key & Peele continues to thrive online long after its run on Comedy Central ended in 2015. Clips from the show frequently resurface on Instagram, X, and TikTok, finding new audiences who weren’t watching when the series first aired.

Key said the ongoing popularity is proof that the sketches were designed to be timeless and evergreen, rather than tied to specific headlines or moments. “When you aim for something universal, it has a longer shelf life,” he suggested.

Many of the clips circulating online come from unofficial accounts not connected to Comedy Central or the show’s creators. Asked whether that bothered him, Key’s response was notably relaxed — focusing less on ownership and more on the fact that people are still laughing and sharing the work years later.

For fans hoping to see Key and Peele together again, there’s no formal project in the works. But Key made one thing clear: the door to another reunion is very much open.
