John Mellencamp Shares Sobering Health Update on Daughter Teddi Amid Stage 4 Cancer Battle

John Mellencamp has shared a candid and emotional update about his daughter Teddi Mellencamp as she continues to battle stage 4 cancer.

The 74-year-old musician spoke briefly about his family during a recent appearance on the Joe Rogan Experience podcast, where he revealed that Teddi, 44, is currently very ill.

“It’s not f---ing fun,” Mellencamp said. “She’s got cancer in the brain, and she’s suffering right now.”

The update came as a shock to many fans, especially after Teddi shared hopeful news just a few months earlier. In October 2025, the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills alum announced that scans showed no detectable cancer at that time.

Speaking on Two T’s in a Pod, the podcast she co-hosts with Tamra Judge, Teddi told co-host Dolores Catania that she was stunned by the results.

“When they told me, I was in such shock. I was numb,” she said, explaining that while the scans were clear, her fight was not over.

Teddi emphasized that she was still undergoing immunotherapy and would continue treatment for at least a year. “I’m not considered in remission or anything like that,” she explained, noting that doctors typically wait several years before using that term.

Her cancer journey began in 2022 with stage 2 melanoma on her back, the deadliest form of skin cancer. Since then, she has undergone 17 surgeries. In April 2025, Teddi revealed that the cancer had spread to her brain and lungs, leading to additional treatments including surgery, radiation, and immunotherapy.

At one point, doctors told Teddi she had a “50/50” chance of survival.

Despite moments of optimism, John Mellencamp’s recent comments underscore the harsh reality of her ongoing battle — one marked by resilience, uncertainty, and continued treatment as she fights to stay alive.
