David Beckham Breaks Silence With Cryptic Remark After Brooklyn’s Explosive Family Claims

Just one day after Brooklyn Beckham publicly accused his parents of controlling his life and trying to undermine his marriage, David Beckham made a pointed but indirect comment about parenting and social media.

Appearing on CNBC’s Squawk Box on Tuesday ahead of the World Economic Forum, the football icon was asked about the dangers of social media for young people and its impact on mental health. While David did not mention his son by name, his words quickly drew attention.

“I’ve always spoken about social media, and the power of social media for the good and for the bad,” David said. “What kids can access these days can be dangerous. What I’ve found personally, especially with my kids as well — use it for the right reasons.”

He went on to acknowledge that mistakes are part of growing up. “They make mistakes. Children are allowed to make mistakes,” David added. “That’s how they learn. Sometimes you have to let them make those mistakes as well.”

The comments came just hours after Brooklyn, 26, posted a lengthy and emotional statement on Instagram, accusing his parents — David and Victoria Beckham — of years of control and manipulation. He claimed they had tried “endlessly to ruin” his relationship with wife Nicola Peltz and accused them of feeding “lies” about the couple to the media.

“I had been silent for years and made every effort to keep these matters private,” Brooklyn wrote. “Unfortunately, my parents and their team have continued to go to the press, leaving me no choice but to speak for myself.”

He also described his family dynamic as “inauthentic,” saying it was maintained through “performative social media posts” and public appearances rather than genuine reconciliation.

“I do not want to reconcile with my family,” Brooklyn stated bluntly. “I’m not being controlled. I’m standing up for myself for the first time in my life.”

While David’s remarks stopped short of directly addressing his son’s allegations, many interpreted his comments as a subtle response amid an increasingly public and painful family rift — one now playing out under intense global scrutiny.
