Chris Noth Explains Why He’s No Longer Friends With Sarah Jessica Parker

Chris Noth is opening up about what led to the end of his friendship with Sarah Jessica Parker.

In an exclusive clip from PEOPLE ahead of the Jan. 26 episode of Really Famous with Kara Mayer Robinson, the 71-year-old actor addressed long-standing rumors of a feud between himself and his former Sex and the City co-star.

“We’re not friends, I think that’s pretty obvious,” Noth says, explaining that their relationship ended after Parker and other cast members publicly responded to multiple sexual assault allegations made against him in 2021.

Allegations and Public Response

In December 2021, The Hollywood Reporter published allegations from two women accusing Noth of rape, one dating back to 2004 and another to 2015. Soon after, a third woman told Daily Beast that Noth sexually assaulted her in 2010 when she was 18.

Noth denied all allegations at the time, stating that he “has and would never cross that line,” and described the claims as “a complete fabrication.”

Shortly after the reports were published, Parker, along with Sex and the City co-stars Cynthia Nixon and Kristin Davis, released a joint statement expressing support for the women who came forward.

Why the Friendship Ended

Noth says that statement was the breaking point for him.

“The statement that they put out — which was nothing more than brand management, really — it was sad, it was disappointing, it was surprising,” he explains. He adds that he felt Parker and the others should have contacted him privately before speaking publicly.

“You’ve known me for many years… give me a call so I can give you the real scoop about this,” he says. “And that didn’t happen.”

While acknowledging that public statements are common in Hollywood, Noth says the lack of personal outreach was hurtful and permanently changed his relationships with the cast.

Career Fallout and Moving On

Following the allegations, Noth was written out of Sex and the City revival And Just Like That…. His character, Mr. Big, died in the premiere episode. Although he was originally expected to appear in the season 1 finale, those scenes were never aired.

Reflecting on the situation now, Noth says there were both losses and lessons.

“You know where people stand and who your real friends are,” he says, adding that if the roles were reversed, he would have handled things differently.

Earlier this month, speculation about lingering tension resurfaced after Noth shared a gym photo on Instagram with a caption criticizing the new year. When a fan commented that the post seemed aimed at Parker following her Carol Burnett Award honor at the Golden Globes, Noth replied, “right.”

The full interview with Kara Mayer Robinson premieres Monday, Jan. 26, on YouTube.
