Cashel Barnett Accepts Plea Deal, Faces One Year in Jail in Domestic Violence Case

Cashel Barnett, a former contestant on Love Island, has agreed to a plea deal in a domestic violence case in Utah that is expected to send him to jail for a year.

According to newly filed court documents obtained by TMZ, Barnett pleaded guilty to two felony charges: one count of third-degree aggravated assault and one count of third-degree domestic violence committed in the presence of a child. Prosecutors are expected to recommend a sentence of one year behind bars, followed by probation.

Barnett is scheduled to be formally sentenced on March 16 in a Utah court. He has already been in custody since at least May of last year.

The charges stem from an alleged assault involving Barnett’s ex-girlfriend, which prosecutors say took place in front of the couple’s 1-year-old daughter. Authorities initially brought multiple charges against the reality TV alum following the incident.

A source close to the alleged victim told TMZ that she was unhappy with the plea agreement and did not believe it was fair. However, the source said she ultimately agreed to accept the deal to avoid the emotional toll of a trial and the possibility of being retraumatized.

Barnett rose to public attention after appearing on Love Island in 2019 and later competed on The Challenge: USA in 2022.
