Fans noticed that one image from the shoot showed Grande with six fingers on her left hand instead of five. The photo, published on Monday, quickly went viral on social media. In the image, Grande is wearing a yellow floral-print Dior outfit with sheer white gloves, posing with her hand against a wall. An extra finger could be seen between her ring and pinky fingers.
A fan account shared the photo on Instagram with the caption, “who’s responsible for giving ariana 6 fingers… 😭”.
Grande responded humorously in the comments, writing, “Holy s---,” and later joked, “Oh my goodness how exciting! I’ve been saying I need some extra appendages so that I can start an album!”
The error was later corrected on Vogue Japan’s official website, but fans continued to share the image for laughs.
Beyond the editing mistake, many fans praised Grande’s interview for the cover story, where she spoke openly about her career and struggles with fame. The Eternal Sunshine singer shared that her celebrity status often overshadowed her creative work.
“I feel like there have been a lot of times when I’ve been doing my best work creatively, and yet my celebrity has been louder than the work,” she said. Grande added that her mother has always helped her stay grounded and confident in her worth.
Grande said she finally feels recognized for her artistry, especially through Wicked and her latest music. While she earned an Oscar nomination for the first Wicked film, its sequel did not receive nominations. Still, she said she felt grateful just to be considered and to share the experience with her mother.
“Never in my life did I expect to be an Oscar-nominated actress,” Grande said. “To feel embraced by the industry I love is extraordinary.”
Looking ahead, Grande will launch her Eternal Sunshine Tour in June. She will also appear in American Horror Story season 13 later this year and return to theaters in Focker In-Law, set for release on Nov. 25.
She is also scheduled to reunite with Wicked co-star Jonathan Bailey for a new production of Sunday in the Park with George in 2027 and will work again with director Jon M. Chu on an animated adaptation of Oh, the Places You’ll Go!.
