Morrissey Missing From A$AP Rocky’s New Album ‘Don’t Be Dumb’

Morrissey appears to have been quietly dropped from A$AP Rocky’s long-awaited new album, Don’t Be Dumb, which was released yesterday, January 16.

Fans had expected a collaboration with Morrissey after Rocky openly expressed interest in working with the former The Smiths frontman as far back as 2018. At the time, Rocky said he wanted to create something “emo” and “retro-infused,” inspired by The Smiths’ sound.

In 2021, Rocky reignited excitement around the partnership when he revealed that Morrissey had been writing, producing, and recording vocals for his then-upcoming album, which was originally titled All Smiles. The project was later renamed Don’t Be Dumb.

Rocky further fueled speculation in 2024 by teasing a song called Hood Happy, which he said featured Morrissey. However, the track never surfaced, and when Don’t Be Dumb finally arrived, Morrissey’s name was absent from the guest list.

The album does include several high-profile moments, including a track titled Stole Ya Flow, which many listeners believe is a diss aimed at Drake. The song also references Rocky’s partner, Rihanna.

Don’t Be Dumb marks Rocky’s first album in nearly eight years. His previous release, Testing, came out in May 2018. He initially announced the new album in June 2024 with an August release date, but the project faced multiple delays. In February 2025, Rocky said the album was in the mixing and mastering stage, before finally confirming a January release last month.

While fans may be disappointed that the long-teased Morrissey collaboration never materialized, Don’t Be Dumb still stands as a major return for Rocky after a lengthy hiatus.
